Further to my update a while ago, we’ve added a few more Canadian stores, who’ll all be stocking Olli & Lime. Thought I’d quickly update you on the new places to find our stuff… West Coast Kids/e-children, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary… Flo Urbain, Lemoyne, Quebec… The Baby Boutique, Kitchener, Ontario… And Cadeaux Kelly Green Gifts (Facebook link), Montreal… This is great [...] Everyone’s heard of giggle, right? They’re a big deal, with more shops than you can shake a stick at. They’ve got three on Manhattan alone, including this one in SOHO… …and the one below on the upper-east. They’ve also got an upper-west shop so they have it covered. All well thought out, including their ethos; the giggle criteria. We [...] No, not some tech-speak acronym to decipher. It stands for the New York International Gift Fair; the main reason we came to NYC this time. It’s held here. And it’s pretty big. It’s not focused purely on kids, clearly, but there was a big children’s brand presence, including many of our competitors plus some reps, distributors and obviously [...] Just a very short post to introduce two new members of the Olli & Lime team. Meet mini donkeys Morris and Morris, “the memo’s best friend[s]“, recruited in Portland… Designed by Yaacov Kaufman for MB, and bought from our favourite stationers, Paper Source, who’ve an impressive (growing) list of locations, some of which we’ve visited. These beautiful, yet functional, charcoal-coloured memo [...] Whenever visiting a new city, we imagine living there. What would we do? Where would we eat? Where would we shop? And most importantly, where would we live? Downtown Seattle condos are pricey but you can get a bargain just a few blocks out. The South Lake Union neighbourhood, just north of downtown, is a prime example. At [...] Yesterday we took a trip over to North Vancouver (shown below in the distance), mainly to meet our fabulous Canadian agent, Sophie, of In Bloom Kids. We met Sophie – along with her seven-year-old (very well behaved) daughter, Portia – at Lonsdale Quay for coffee. It was an absolute pleasure to put a face to the [...] After a brief delay, back to what we’ve been up to. The weather’s been a little cooler – a welcome relief to be honest – giving us the energy for more on-foot exploration! We took a long walk around vast Stanley Park (above). We also sampled numerous beaches, including one in Kitsilano – ‘Kits’ for short – [...] Thanks to two of our fabulous agents, Sophie covering Western Canada and Anna focusing on Quebec, we’ve managed to gain some great new Canadian retail partners. We’ve added three Montreal stores, Pinky Blue, Z’AXE and Bebe Plus, even creating unique French product labels in the process. Hopefully more Quebec stores to come. New too, Vancouver’s Jack & Lola, [...] Some UK retail news for a change. We’ve just got a brand new stockist in Bath; a picturesque Cotswold city which – in relative terms – is just down the road from us. Funky Bambini sits on the Upper Borough Walls; an historic street – named after the medieval city walls – full of architectural gems, and [...] Still on retail. Each time we visit Boston, it strikes me that a new British store has popped up. I took a walk along Boston’s best shopping street to record the evidence… Trendy, tree-flanked Newbury Street is a European-style shopping street, so I guess it’s the obvious choice for British stores, looking to ‘set-up shop’ in [...] |
