No, not some tech-speak acronym to decipher. It stands for the New York International Gift Fair; the main reason we came to NYC this time. It’s held here. And it’s pretty big. It’s not focused purely on kids, clearly, but there was a big children’s brand presence, including many of our competitors plus some reps, distributors and obviously [...] Anyone who’s ever dealt with the media, particularly long-lead magazines, will know that they start thinking about Christmas early. VERY early. Like summer early. I have sympathy for these guys, having worked in PR 10+ years. Writing Christmas releases six months in advance means that by the time it arrives, you’re sick of it! Anyway, we took [...] Unhappy Hipsters is a blog – more of an institution really – that I’ve been visiting and sharing with people for a while now. I thought it was time to give it some formal credit. If you haven’t visited, do so. First up, Purl Mama, who kindly ran a picture post (and not for the first time) covering our new Charlie nursery and kitchen products… Next, long-time friends Mini Gaga also posted about our new Charlie collection, and reminded me that we’re yet to decide whether to launch matching wallpaper. Hmmm… And finally, [...] Thanks to the British Airways grant we told you about back in February, we are mounting an ‘international charm offensive’ this year, to spread the O&L word. As I mentioned last week, our first stop is Boston to set up a distribution centre at the end of this month – actually just outside New York – plus [...] Just quickly, I’d like to share a post on us which ran yesterday at Cool Mom Picks… We’re long-term fans so it’s great to be featured. Love the heading. Thanks guys! You’ve probably noticed that our stuff is more than a little retro. A fact also noted by the lovely peeps at Retro To Go; the super-cool home of “all things hip and retro”. They first took note of us back in December of 2008, when they posted about our (sadly now deceased) Egg orange bedding. Oh, how [...] We’ve been right here, beavering away as usual. Our products have been far more adventurous though, popping-up all over the place. Here’s a few UK-based mentions… Bowie at Print & Pattern ran a wonderful post, showcasing our new Kitchen range… Natalie at Nest Goodies also gave our new kitchen stuff a mention on her great blog… And UK trends mag [...] What seems like an age ago – and pretty much is – we were asked to appear in Print & Pattern, a book by Bowie Style, also author of the identically named blog.
