We’ve only just left Vancouver and were pretty sad to do so. We could have easily stayed twice as long. In fact, it’s somewhere we’d be happy to live full-time. As mentioned, we stayed in Gastown, Vancouver’s historic centre. With stunning architecture and a chequered past, dating back to the formation of Canada itself. Gastown is an [...] Yesterday we took a trip over to North Vancouver (shown below in the distance), mainly to meet our fabulous Canadian agent, Sophie, of In Bloom Kids. We met Sophie – along with her seven-year-old (very well behaved) daughter, Portia – at Lonsdale Quay for coffee. It was an absolute pleasure to put a face to the [...] After a brief delay, back to what we’ve been up to. The weather’s been a little cooler – a welcome relief to be honest – giving us the energy for more on-foot exploration! We took a long walk around vast Stanley Park (above). We also sampled numerous beaches, including one in Kitsilano – ‘Kits’ for short – [...] The weather continues to be amazing. Not great for our no air-con, limited opening windows apartment. Can’t grumble though. Yesterday we took a trip on the Aquabus… We got an all-day pass, allowing us to see a few more bits of Vancouver. Including Granville Island, with a public market full of the freshest food. And cakes. Also home [...] Our first full day involved LOTS of walking, as per usual for us. Here’s a quick-fire summary of what we saw, courtesy of some slightly random pictorial highlights. In addition to Gastown, where we’re based for the week, we visited Yaletown… We also went to the False Creek area, as we made our way towards the water… We [...] Well, we’re finally here! And it is as hot as we expected. It’s very early in Vancouver, as we’re in transition from UK time. Our journey here was interesting, if very long. To kick things off, we bumped into David Seaman in the business lounge. I had to double-take, then realised where I was and it wouldn’t [...] Emergency summer clothes buying has commenced. Why? because the weather in Vancouver, Portland and Seattle looks pretty hot…at least by English standards! As we’re 8 hours ahead, the headline temperatures don’t look too impressive, but through the week it rises to 37° C (98° F) in Portland and 30°+ in the other two. It’s been a decent summer [...] Thanks to two of our fabulous agents, Sophie covering Western Canada and Anna focusing on Quebec, we’ve managed to gain some great new Canadian retail partners. We’ve added three Montreal stores, Pinky Blue, Z’AXE and Bebe Plus, even creating unique French product labels in the process. Hopefully more Quebec stores to come. New too, Vancouver’s Jack & Lola, [...] You know us, any excuse for a sale. We just can’t help ourselves.
