‘Spring Bank Holiday and Memorial Day Weekend Sale’ is way too lengthy a blog post heading. So I went with something a bit snappier. Anyway, you get the message… Virtually all sale products are discounted by 50% for various reasons. From ‘last season’, ex-display and sample stock to items with limited pattern coverage etc etc. For instance, [...] I want to dispel a myth (in England at least) about US folk; namely that most are fat. Based on my own crude sample – Boston, Chicago, New York – it’s simply not true. There are obvious differences between city and country life – as everywhere I think – but the general picture is certainly much [...] Quite simply, I adore football (or ‘soccer’ depending on your persuasion) so the quad-annual FIFA World Cup is a pretty significant occasion for me, to put it very mildly. As usual, newspapers are stuffed full of over-optimistic proclamation. Seemingly, so the nation falls that bit harder when the inevitable quarter-final penalty exit arrives. But this time it [...] I know some don’t appreciate my cat posts but at the risk of alienating a few (and hopefully amusing a few more) I had to share this picture, featuring our cat, Egg… Such a girl; adjusting her position to make the most of the remaining sun cover! Some UK retail news for a change. We’ve just got a brand new stockist in Bath; a picturesque Cotswold city which – in relative terms – is just down the road from us. Funky Bambini sits on the Upper Borough Walls; an historic street – named after the medieval city walls – full of architectural gems, and [...] I mentioned that most of our sales come from the US. I think we’ve subconsciously made this happen by the way…due to our [very obvious] obsession with America. During our interactions, visits, and all-round familiarisation, we’ve come across lots of differences – between the US and England – which I thought it’d be fun to share. So, [...] Still on retail. Each time we visit Boston, it strikes me that a new British store has popped up. I took a walk along Boston’s best shopping street to record the evidence… Trendy, tree-flanked Newbury Street is a European-style shopping street, so I guess it’s the obvious choice for British stores, looking to ‘set-up shop’ in [...] Excuse the brief posting delay. Blame it on the jet-lag. Anyway, back in the swing now, and just thought I’d share some baby stores we snapped while in Boston… One of two Tadpole stores on Clarendon Street, in the heart of Boston’s South End. Kiwi Baby is also in the South End neighbourhood, on vibrant Washington Street. Mulberry Road [...] Yesterday we took a trip over to one of our favourite areas, the Fort Point district, where we hooked-up with some fabulous fellow Brits, at Bob’s Your Uncle. Owners Martin and Michele Yeeles kindly spared some time to explain how they have managed to establish a Boston-based business following relocation 15+ years ago.
